Will ReadyBoost work on my PC?

If you are running Windows Vista and have an empty high speed USB port (USB 2.0) then, yes ReadyBoost will work on your PC with any of these USB flash memory devices (you can also use an SD Card if you have a high speed SD card reader).

 

Can you use SD flash memory cards with ReadyBoost?

Yes, it is possible to use SD flash memory cards but they will only work if you have a fast enough SD card and memory card reader, usually this needs to be an internally fitted memory card reader. It maybe easier and cheaper to use a compatible USB flash memory device that you can plug-in to an empty USB port instead as this is guaranteed to always work.

 

What do I need for ReadyBoost to work on my PC?

You need a PC running Windows Vista, a free high speed USB port (USB 2.0) and a compatible USB flash memory device.

 

Does ReadyBoost work with Windows XP?

No, ReadyBoost does not work with Windows XP, only with Windows Vista.

Up to 4GB of flash memory can be used for ReadyBoost.

 

What's the smallest amount of flash memory that can be used for ReadyBoost?

256MB, but it is recommended that you use at least 1GB to see a suitable performance increase.

 

What is the optimal amount of flash memory to use for ReadyBoost?

Ideally a 2:1 ratio of flash memory to system memory. i.e. if you have 1GB of system RAM you would require 2GB of flash memory.

 

Can more than 1 flash memory device be used with ReadyBoost?

No, you can only use 1 flash memory device for ReadyBoost.
